I see. I just made a feature request to have it built and available with pacman.

Such feature requests are quite useless because they won't magically make any dev wanting to add yet another package, especially considering the fact that there are many packages in Extra that need more love.
If the package gets many users and many votes - it will probably interest some TU so it can make its way into Community repo (and thus a binary package), and if it's really cool - it may get into Extra eventually.
Until that happens users are encouraged to build the package by themselves. This is how it works.
