yaourt doesn't seem to be able to handle the --needed flag. Even if stated, installed packages are reinstalled. Additional info: $ yaourt -Q pcmanfm ==> List all installed packages extra/pcmanfm 0.5-3 But: $ yaourt -S --needed pcmanfm warning: pcmanfm-0.5-3 is up to date -- reinstalling resolving dependencies... looking for inter-conflicts... Targets (1): pcmanfm-0.5-3 [0.30 MB] Total Download Size: 0.00 MB Total Installed Size: 1.16 MB Proceed with installation? [Y/n] While pacman says: $ pacman -S --needed pcmanfm warning: pcmanfm-0.5-3 is up to date -- skipping local database is up to date Steps to reproduce: 1. look for a package that is installed on your system 2. run yaourt --needed -S <package> 3. package would be reinstalled with yaourt |

yaourt cannot handle several pacman arguments, but yaourt is no official archlinux project and bug reports should be addressed to the developer: http://bugs.archlinux.fr/index.php?tasks=all&project=3
