Sometimes when I relogin in kde (as another user or as the same user) suddenly my keyboard doesn't work anymore. Not even if I go into console after that, only a reboot fixes this. It's a normal keyboard, not even usb. But I can't always reproduce it, sometimes it happens, sometimes not.

I'm having this issue for months, but I never payed much attention to it because I usually don't relogin that much. However with this recent kde issue (icons, menus,... disappearing) I had to relogin a couple of times, and this little bug bothered me :) I don't know if this is fixable, or if this is even an archlinux problem.

you use kdm?
what says dmesg?
what xorg you use?
the only problem i got with keyboard is if i work with 2 users at the same time i have to press the 'num' button to get numpad working

yes I'm using kdm
dmesg:
input: AT Translated Set 2 keyboard on isa0060/serio0

I'm using the latest xorg but I had this problem already when we were still using xfree86

try an other keyboard perhaps it's a hardware issue
never had such a problem that the whole keyboard is not working anymore

Bad news: since I did a fresh install a couple of days ago, I have about the same problem:
Once every few logins (1/3?) the keyboard doesn't work. All I can do is turn the LEDs on and off. Rebooting usually fixes it (logging in and out doesn't, I guess you have to restart X).

I use the XOrg 6.8.1, my config is autogenerated (just added the XkbOptions for rules model and layout), and am using Gnome 2.8.0 from testing, so it's not a KDE issue.

how about trying an other xorg config file?
autogenerated what you mean with that, hwd or something else?

Autogenerated using X -configure (the way it should be I would say, you'd have to be crazy writing this from scratch :p) or xorgconfig.
All I did afterwards was set my keyboard layout, put in the right mouse device, add support for the scroll wheel, choose a default depth and resolution and set DRI mode to 0666.
