Description:
Not everyone wants Xfce to make feedback noises but event/input feedback sounds did not work for me in Xfce 4.6 with libcanberra until I did the following: 1. Created a script in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/ to add libcanberra-gtk-module to the GTK_MODULES environment variable, as described at https://tango.0pointer.de/pipermail/libcanberra-discuss/2008-July/000021.html. 2. Added "/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/modules" to /etc/ld.so.conf and ran ldconfig. (The alternative that I've found described in various places on the net is to create a link from /usr/lib to /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/modules/libcanberra-gtk-module.so but the ld.so.conf solution seems neater to me.) After restarting X, buttons go 'click' and windows 'whoosh' when minimised! Additional info: * libcanberra 0.11-2 Steps to reproduce: Running Xfce 4.6, install libcanberra and sound-theme-freedesktop, enable event sounds and input feedback sounds in Applications -> Settings -> Appearance -> Settings then click on the Close button. Result: No sound. |
