When I use xcompmgr (xapps 20040920-1, xorg 11R6.8.1-1) in conjunction with Gnome 2.8 (from testing update at 21 sept 01:00 UTC) maximizing a window covers all the screen hiding the gnome panels.

Other problem with xcompmgr running is that when I go to logout trought actions menu, X freezes before displaying the confirmation dialog, I need to control+alt+backspace.

The second problem is related to the fadeout I think, it somehow fails to display the dialog correctly. I think you can just press enter to log out, still.

I had the same two problems with GNOME/xserver/xcompmgr almost a year ago. May be a pain to fix somehow, but then I also have the impression xcompmgr is up for a major revamp.

this isn't really a bug in archlinux, it is more an upstream problem.
metacity 2.8.5 has an composite manager but it was horribly slow here.

Sorry guys. We can't support unstable apps like xcompmgr (ie, devote large amounts of time to fixing upstream problems). It's just not feasible.

Since xapps is built from CVS, the best I can do is to rebuild xapps on a regular basis and hope the guys at x.org fix it for us.
