The codecs depends should be removed from avifile. We are planning to remove the codecs packages from the repo. No packages in extra depends on it. No license information can be found so we don't even know if we are allowed to distribute it. More info: http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch-dev-public/2009-May/011407.html From a quick test, avifile seems to be able to work well without the codecs. Debian doesn't have the codecs either. If some users need the extra functionnality provided by the codecs package, they can always build it with ABS. |
