Details

Description:

The file /usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc from the package kdebase-workspace references the kdm theme archlinux-simplyblack, which is distributed in archlinux-themes-kdm. If archlinux-themes-kdm is not installed, kdm will refuse to start up because it doesn't find the configured theme. This essentially makes archlinux-themes-kdm a dependency of kdebase-workspace. I suggest that the default kdm theme is returned to the one distributed with kdebase-workspace (oxygen), or archlinux-themes-kdm is added as an official dependency to kdebase-workspace.

Additional info:
* package version(s)
kdebase-workspace 4.2.3-1
archlinux-themes-kdm 1.3-1

* config and/or log files etc.
/usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc

Steps to reproduce:
install kdebase-workspace but not archlinux-themes-kdm. use the default kdmrc file from kdebase-workspace. try to run kdm. kdm should fail to execute, complaining about the missing theme.

@bash: I think it the third or fourth time we had this issue. We should make sure that this wont happen again. Beside building in a clean chroot next time one should check why the buildscripts behave like this.

Comment by Pierre Schmitz (Pierre) - Saturday, 09 May 2009, 18:57 GMT
reopend so we remember to have a closer look. At least we should add some kind of check in the PKGBUILD so this does not happen again.
Comment by Andrea Scarpino (BaSh) - Saturday, 09 May 2009, 19:03 GMT
