Details

To solve my missing kde menus problem i wiped my system clean and did a complete fresh install .

base + xorg + kde

i set it up and entered the kde desktop fine and yeah i have menus now.
Only one small problem when i hit logout the screen goes black and the cursor stays and that it my linux box is totally locked up, not even ctrl alt del works.

I have found it not to be KDE sorry its actually Xorg i cant get xorg to run up with the settings that i have been using for years with various linux distros including arch unitl it broke.

i get no EE errors though it just dumps me back to the terminal
