DetailsModule i830 has been replaced by i915 and the new xorg 6.8 calls this new module, so DRI does not work for i830 cards with xorg 6.8. The module does not ship with kernel 2.6.8.1, but I've found a patch on google. I've tested it, and it seems to work fine. Haven't had any crash, and DRI works again.
The patch can be found here: http://www.skynet.ie/~airlied/patches/dri/i915_linux.diff I won't post it, because it's too long. I don't know if this is important enough for a new kernel pkg, but anyway, now you guys know about this issue... I've done my job ;-). PS: If you can't understand what I posted, tell me, so I can write it again. |

It think this is the same problem. :) Maybe this patch is already present in the latest mm?
Arch will have a package soon.
