Description:
The kernel crashes randomly because of an iwlwifi bug.
It seems to happen when using WPA and under high CPU usage.
Same problem with lots of different kernels, including 2.6.29.2-ARCH and 2.6.30-rc4.

Additional info:
* messages.log
* a developer reported this was fixed in compat-wireless

after some research, I found this patch which probably fixes the bug (not tested yet)

Maybe this is why my laptop crashes randomly without reason, bug report and log, when using wvdial with usb mobile modem on kernels 2.6.29 and 2.6.30

Here with wifi-link 5100 (WPA) and 2.6.30 and never had kernel panics for this module.
If there are some steps to reproduce the behavior I can help sorting it out.

i also can't reproduce this with .30 and iwlagn (5100)

I'm using the ARCH kernel now, no crashes (i686 and x86_64).
