Disabeling the new extensions makes nedit work again

nedit 5.5-1
xorg 11R6.8.1-1

work fine here. Perviously I had those errors too, but nedit did work though. Now it works without warnings or errors.

Still doesn't work here, and i have nedit 5.5-1 and xorg 6.8.2-2 :-(
I guess it might be my setup which is wrong...

Maybe, 'cause I have the same set, and things are fine on my comp. I've never had any problems with this.
*Googling the error message right now*

There is something about Xmfont...() function at
http://www.linuxpackages.net/view_comment.php?id=1951&cid=1400
The thing is, over there, the person having the problem says that nedit still works nonetheless. The answer says that there might be some problem with the working between lesstif and nedit, and there might be something wrong with the Arch lesstif.

ps: sorry about the double posting. I should have checked first and then posted all at once. I apologise.

BSD: seems to be fixed with newer X and/or nedit (works for me)

closing?
Comment by Tomas Groth (tgc) - Sunday, 06 March 2005, 16:20 GMT
Well, it still doesn't work for me, but the error message as changed a bit since i first filled the bug, it now reads:

X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 70 (X_PolyFillRectangle)
Serial number of failed request: 293
Current serial number in output stream: 303

And nedit doesn't start. But as i mentioned earlier the problem might be my setup since noone else is having this problem, though i can't imaging why...

i use nvidias driver for my tnt2
i just posted my xorg.conf under attachments, maybe someone can spot an error in there...

I'm not very well up on the xorg thing, but is there a particular reason you're not using DRI?
Also, since you're using the nvidia driver, maybe you have to reinstall the drivers with every kernel upgrade?
You should probably get on the irc. You'll get immediate help over there. Also, posting on the forums would help, since there are more people on the forums. The bugtracker isn't the place most people visit.
I hope you get this problem sorted out, good luck.

the composite extension is a expermental feature, it will cause all sort of problems when you use is it.

nedit will work without it....
will close this bug to celebrate bug day.
