Description:

ksplash crashes on kde3 start on 2009.02 with fresh install of kdemod-legacy from repo-kdemod3. Happens every time.

Backtraces from console login (ksplash.kcrash-3-wdebug) and tightvnc login (ksplash.kcrash-4-vnc-wdebug) attached.

Steps to reproduce:

Install kdemod-legacy, start kde3. On kde start at or before the time the kde tips window is displayed a ksplash.crash dialog is displayed. After capture of backtrace and close of dialog, everything else is normal.

I don't know if this is related, but I experienced a kmenuedit crash as well and I thought I would provide the backtrace just in case there was a commonality between them. After the kmenuedit crash, I restarted kmenuedit and have been hitting "save" between each change and so far no other crashes. I have experienced this kmenuedit crash in other distros as well, so this part may be a kde problem, I'm not sure.

I think you better report this bug to the Chakra/kdemod project as KDE3 is not supported on Arch. (Those packages are not in our repos)
