This is probably an upstream issues. No clue if we change that call. Jan?

comment from #firefox
"probably has to do with unofficial versus official branding ; not sure what the right place to fix that one is (for arch to point it at a different page or for mozilla to put content there, assuming it's the default for unofficial branding)"

Can confirm the same. After install of a new version, Firefox/Gran Paradiso opens:
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/3.0.10/whatsnew/

It seems to be getting this from the about:config setting
startup.homepage_override_url http://www.mozilla.org/projects/%APP%/%VERSION%/whatsnew/

There is another setting in there, not causing this but possibly also affected:
app.releaseNotesURL http://www.mozilla.org/projects/%APP%/%VERSION%/releasenotes/

I agree with tuxfusion's commenst that it looks like it should be http://www.mozilla.com/...

Thanks for pointing to about:config ( ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/prefs.js )

Easy step to reproduce wrong urls in Firefox -> Help -> Release Notes

I found three URL that need to be altered, s/.org/.com ; s/projects/en-US to make sense :

user_pref(app.releaseNotesURL, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/%APP%/%VERSION%/releasenotes/);

user_pref(startup.homepage_override_url, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/%APP%/%VERSION%/releasenotes/);

user_pref(startup.homepage_welcome_url, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/%APP%/%VERSION%/firstrun/);

Now i assume archs packages shouldn't tinker with ~/. files, however those wrong urls are there by older installations/ first runs
from grandparadiso so there wouldn't be another way then to modify the *.default user profile with a patch. Is this correct ?
And in this case we would change 404 links to correct files so maybe a patch would be okay here ?
I was just trying to bash something short that would replace those links when i realized one would have to modify every /home/ on the system.
Why is this setting per user anyway =)
