Jason. can you see if it's a runtime dep or only a build time dep?

[jchu@aries ~]$ sudo pacman -Rd libvorbis
removing libvorbis... done.
[jchu@aries ~]$ mplayer Honey-large.ogg
mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libvorbis.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Xine gives similar output (though graphically, not on the command line).

I can't think of a good way to test libtheora without using mplayer or xine.

Maybe try to build mplayer without libvorbis, then install the current libtheora pkg and see if it works.
