Description:

My wireless worked well until recently when the system blocks and the intel iwl3945 wireless module begins to take about 50% of my CPU. I guess there's a bug in the module that causes some inner loop. Sometimes I get wireless to work but that's for a short while and suddenly wireless turns off and again the iwl3945 mudule gets 50% of CPU. After the loop begins, the system is still responsible but I can't run any new processes.

My kernel is:
uname -sr
Linux 2.6.29-ARCH

I downgraded to kernel 2.6.28 and wireless now works.

My wireless card uses the same driver. I went without upgrading my system for a while and went straight from 2.6.28 to 2.6.29.3-1. I did the upgrade about a week ago, and I never had any problems with this module, so I'm thinking that further revisions to the kernel fixed the problem.

I won't request closure on this because I don't know if I would have had problems if I'd upgraded sooner.

@Luka: please confirm if the problem still exists with the latest kernel and iwlwifi-3945-ucode package versions.

Yes the firmware bug is still present in the latest arch system.

I never had this bug, but I didn't use 2.6.29 for too long. I guess we should wait for 2.6.30 and see if this fixes it for you - or you report a bug upstream.
