Can you attach an xorg.0.log that shows the error message?
Comment by Sergej Pupykin (sergej) - Monday, 20 April 2009, 11:59 GMT
Have no problems with:

$ pacman -Q xorg-server
xorg-server 1.6.1-1
$ pacman -Q xf86-video-sis
xf86-video-sis 0.10.1-3
$ uname -m
i686

It looks like your card isn't supported by the vanilla sis driver. I see you're using an xorg.conf also, can you attach it?
Comment by Robin Björklin (Izuil) - Monday, 20 April 2009, 13:15 GMT
Here it is :)
Without a xorg.conf file it starts with vesa.

the sis driver doesn't support your videochip. You might want to try the modified driver from http://ohioloco.ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=7014171&postcount=126, but beware of http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/14397, which is worked around later in that thread.
