This just happend with a newly installed f-spot and never used before. I tried it with a new ~/.gnome2/f-spot/ directory and f-spot crashes here, too. I have recompiled f-spot against the new mono and mono-addins, and everything worked. So, it just needs a recompilation.

Works fine here with an up2date installation from testing. No error messages are logged here.

Edit: that was with mono 2.2... with mono and the updated -addins package, I get a list of mono.addins warnings and an f-spot window with just an error message.
