Description: Garbled screen when using xf86-video-intel from testing repository.

Additional info:
* xf86-video-intel 2.6.99.902-2
* 2.7.patch is to blame, remove that and it works fine. 2.7 patch needs reviewing.

Steps to reproduce:
Try using DDC or run with specific mode lines in xorg.conf.
There is screen corruption.
Without xorg.conf it may/may not work, some apps are corrupted, some aren't.

As the 2.7.patch is a branch update, can you git bisect on the upstream sources? I can't reproduce your problem with my hardware, so I'll need your help to find the commit that breaks this.

I'll give it a try when I have time - took me an hour to figure out what the problem was because I hadn't rebooted in several days.

I have also problems with the driver 2.6.99.902-2. Try the procedure without patch 2.7.patch.
After suspend to RAM is not possible to switch to the consols. When you start a video, xorg-server crashes sometimes randomly. Using UXA, DRI2 and modesettings

Bad english...

When I run a video (for example movie or music video), xorg-server crashes sometimes randomly.

I had a garbled screen at login, and when using gksudo, or playing a flash video, or using gthumb. Downgrading to 2.6.99.902-1 solved this problem.
x86_64 using testing

On x86_64, 2.6.902-2 never displays properly (garbled screen, vty's stay blank after starting X, though they still respond). 2.6.902-1 works fine. I have a GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03).

As I can't reproduce these problems, can the people who are affected by the 2.7.patch do bisection on the upstream 2.7 branch?

Just adding my controller model--Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller

I can confirm. This happened to me when I used "AccelMethod" UXA and DRI2. When using "AccelMethod" EXA screen is clear. Tested with kernel 2.6.29.1.

I see there's more upstream commits related to these issues. Some commits have been reverted and there has been some work on performance with KMS and UXA. With the current 2.7 branch the performance with KMS and UXA is good again, but EXA is miserably slow. This means current upstream 2.7 git is unusable for us at this moment.

Intel GM965 here - xf86-video-intel-2.6.99.902-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz is the last working package for me. The update in testing today (xf86-video-intel-2.7.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz) results in a garbled screen starting X and it is necessary to downgrade for things to start working again. Using KMS, UXA.

Have the same problem as Tapio here. Using UXA and KMS as well. Also tried EXA but it shows the same behaviour.

2.7.1-1 works fine for me.
