Description:

The nvidia driver currently in testing (180.44) should depend on nvidia-utils with the same version, not just any.

Installing the driver (nvidia) as is now, the X-server fails to start due to different versions in kernel module (nvidia) and driver component (nvidia-utils).

Well, this is still a problem when enabling the testing repository on a lower priority than extra (so one would have to fetch a testing package manually), and then doing a pacman -S nvidia to get it, forgetting about the nvidia-utils.

I have fallen into this trap more than once, and the cost (adding a dependency to that package) seems well worth the outcome ("nvidia driver component not match kernel module" gives 65.000 hits in Google; if I add archlinux to the query I still get close to 700 hits).

Of course, it's your choice whether to do it or not.
