Description:

After a break of several weeks I wanted to reactivate my icq-account. I started licq. licq freezed when trying to send a message, opening incoming messages, opening history. No error message from licq, neither gui nor terminal. Only kwin announced the licq-windows are not responding and asked for closing.

The update from qt4.4 to qt4.5 was the most significant change since licq worked error-free (AFAIK).

I did a downgrade with qt-4.4.3-5-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz and licq continued to work properly.

From the German Archlinux-Forum I received the advice to compile licq with qt4.5 installed.

Ok, pacman reinstalled qt4.5, I took licq’s PKGBUILD from http://repos.archlinux.org/viewvc.cgi/licq/repos/extra-x86_64/ and run makepkg. I removed licq at first with pacman and installed my local package. Starting licq, connecting - and yes! it worked: sending, receiving, history.

I do not know what kind of error this might be, but it seems to me that licq’s binaries are not 100%-compatible with qt4.5 if not compiled unter qt4.5 - at least x86_64; i686 untested.

-all with current licq 1.3.6
-Arch x86_64 with all updates except for kde3.5.10
