hi
i guess there are some module problems
look at lsmod after you booted with hotplug enabled
if there is something like forcedeth loaded then it will conflict with
the nvidia drivers or snd-intel-810 or so
sorry i don't own such a hardware so i can't test it on my own
there is an install instruction on http://www.nvidia.com
if the provided info is not enough
else you can browse the nvidia forums
please let me know if it helps

Well I tried upgrading to nforce 1.0.0283-2 with no modules loaded and
now it won't even install properly, it just freezes again. I made sure only the ntfs module was loaded, even unloaded the soundcore (thought it might be because of that) and still no go. Well, I'm just reporting this bug in hopes to see it resolved but it's nothing serious, I've been having arch running smoothly so it's not that bad, except for the nuisance. I have no clue to what might be though.

hm if you disable hotplug
it works to insert the modules?
without a freeze?
hotplug load a lot of modules by probing them
do you start your network after hotplug?
try to load hotplug after network
well that are just guesses but hotplug can be a little bit tricky ;-)

Indeed it does. Must've missed that reading the known issues before posting here. Sorry. Thanks for your time. :)
