Description:
Konqueror doesn't show correctly gif and png animations. If you load a website with animations those animations will remain still, every now and then the animation will advance for a millisecond , but in the end it will stop. Konqueror also seems sluggish in loading webpages with many GIF/PNG animations.
Clicking on "Show Image" in the context menu while hovering over the broken animation will open a new tab with the GIF animation inside that works correctly.

Additional info:
* package version(s)
* config and/or log files etc.
Version: 4.2.1
QT Version 4.5.0

Steps to reproduce:
Load any website that displays animated gif or png images.

This sounds like this bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=186159

Btw: Are you sure Konqueror ever supported animated pngs?

Well I'm sure of animated GIFs at least. I don't know of animated PNGs , but i strongly belive yes.

APNG is rejected by the PNG group, so I guess the only browser that supports this is firefox. Our version of libpng is patched for APNG support, but applications need modification to support APNG.

The problem is not specific to Konqueror, but affects KHTML in general.

Other applications that use KHTML have problems with GIF animations. For example animated smiles in Kopete also suffer of the same bug.

Seems that the problem is solved on SVN :

the SVN patches apply without problems on kdelibs-4.2.1 . Now I'm compiling patched kdelibs 4.2.1 in order to see if the problem is really solved. I'll report as I finish

FYI: This patch was also added to the 4.2 branch. So it will be fixed in 4.2.2. (which will be available very soon)
