This is one of the worst bug report I have ever seen, it took me 30 seconds to understand what it was saying. I hesitated to post a comment to clarify once I understood, but I wanted to see other reactions :)
It looks like handbrake package in extra does not provide any gtk versions :
http://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/i686/handbrake/
There is handbrake svn in AUR, which is split into one cli and one gtk version (which do not conflict and can apparently be installed together) :
handbrake-cli-svn : http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=21704
handbrake-svn-gtk : http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=21703
Maybe extra should have handbrake-cli and handbrake-gtk ?
The handbrake release includes the Handbrake-CLI, but also A GTK frontend. If someone could build the frontend as well, and either include it in this package,
or as a seperate package, that would be great.
