DetailsDescription:
It is not possible to download some of Google extensions for Firefox, like the new Google Toolbar 5 or Google Gears. It seems to be a packaging problem, as I couldn't find anything on the internet regarding compatibility issues between the newest 3.0.7 version of Firefox and the extensions mentioned. Additional info: * package version(s) firefox-3.0.7-1 Steps to reproduce: Go to http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/toolbar/FT5/ and try to install the extension. Go to http://gears.google.com/ and see the non-compatibility notice. The problem has also been reported by another Archlinux user here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=514029 |
This task depends upon
http://wiki.debian.org/
In short, one needs to change the general.useragent.extra.firefox preference under about:config from Swiftweasel/3.0.x to Firefox/3.0.x
However it would be good to put some notice for the users in the post install message or even consider patching the source to automatically set the User Agent as described.
