DetailsDescription:
After a fresh Archlinux install, when pango is installed for the first time, pango applications fail to display fonts properly, and complain in the console. For example, with xfce4-about : ----- LOG START ----- (xfce4-about:9028): Pango-CRITICAL **: No modules found: No builtin or dynamically loaded modules were found. PangoFc will not work correctly. This probably means there was an error in the creation of: '/etc/pango/pango.modules' You should create this file by running: pango-querymodules > '/etc/pango/pango.modules' (xfce4-about:9028): Pango-WARNING **: failed to find shape engine, expect ugly output. engine-type='PangoRenderFc', script='latin' (xfce4-about:9028): Pango-WARNING **: failed to find shape engine, expect ugly output. engine-type='PangoRenderFc', script='common' ----- LOG END ----- The file /etc/pango/pango.modules actually exists, but is empty. After running "pango-querymodules > '/etc/pango/pango.modules'" as advised, everything works fine. While this command is present in pango install scriptlet, it does not seem to work properly when pango is installed for the first time. I could not figure out why, as pango's dependencies were correctly installed before pango itself. Additional info: * pango 1.22.4-1 * xfce-utils 4.6.0-1 (only used to "test" the bug) Steps to reproduce: Despite my efforts to reproduce this bug, I did not succeed. I simply could not afford to reinstall the box completely just to find out what went wrong... |

Can you provide a pacman.log which shows the initial installation of pango?
