Description:
In post-install script of gdm packages, group "gdm" is created, without enforcing a group id, resulting gdm (a system group, I believe) being assigned a group number over 1000. This can cause problems for systems where there is already a set of directories populating /home with some group numbers that interfere with system groups. gdm:x:120:1001:PolicyKit:/var/lib/gdm:/sbin/nologin
I attached a slightly modified gdm.install; it seems wrong to give the user 'gdm' a real name of 'PolicyKit' :-)
FS#14507.No issuess on my new Arch i686 system (2009-07-09):
$ grep gdm /etc/passwd
gdm:x:120:103:PolicyKit:/var/lib/gdm:/sbin/nologin
In any case I find it interesting that the gdm user has a real name of 'PolicyKit'!
