Description:

Adding a launcher in xfce-4.6 fails.
This is due to the exo-desktop-item-edit command crashing with segmentation fault when entering a character in the "Name" field.

I found a related bug report (2 years old) :
http://www.nabble.com/Bug-416363:-libexo-0.3-0:-When-I-try-to-create-launcher-I-get-segmentation-fault.-td9688165.html

Maybe this is a bug il libexo ratherthan in packaging, but I want to make it sure before reporting the bug to XFCE devs.

Additional info:
* package version(s)
exo 0.3.100-1

Steps to reproduce:
run this command and enter a letter n the "Name field :
$ exo-desktop-item-edit --create-new ~/.config/local/share/applications/

(exo-desktop-item-edit:6263): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_utf8_casefold: assertion `str != NULL' failed
zsh: segmentation fault exo-desktop-item-edit --create-new ~/.config/local/share/applications/

Cannot reproduce, what is your locale/charset?
Comment by Jonathan Schaeffer (SkizoRutabaga) - Sunday, 22 March 2009, 10:46 GMT
I'm in fr_FR.UTF8
I tried to launch the app in other locales but I havec exactly the same error with this tests :

LANG=C exo-desktop-item-edit --create-new ~/.config/local/share/applications
LC_ALL=C exo-desktop-item-edit --create-new ~/.config/local/share/applications

same with POSIX.

Should I report it upstream ?

Sounds upstream to me. Go for it.
