Description:
Since 1.4.1-1 update in openjdk6 Im cannot open any java applet using firefox, this was talked on the mailing list: http://www.nabble.com/icedtea6-td22259271.html

Same here. Iam unable to open any applets with firefox using openjdk6 or sun jre

yep, openjdk6/IcedTea stoped working since last update here.
Sun jre works...

When opening an applet, the java process runs into a deadlock. CPU consumption goes to 100% and strace shows the following:

futex(0xb74bdbd8, FUTEX_WAIT, 4706, NULL <unfinished ...>

But there's no process no 4706 so it could take a while indeed to finish this call. I wonder if this is not an upstream bug.

I attach a debug output (from my running of "ICEDTEAPLUGIN_DEBUG=true firefox"), when checking a java website (I checked http://www.time.gov/timezone.cgi?Pacific/d/-8/java )

Pretty much every other site I tried ended up similar to this:

IcedTeaPluginInstance::SetWindow: Instance 0x9e68ba0 waiting for initialization...
Initialization for instance 1 has timed out. Marking it void
ICEDTEA PLUGIN: Instance::SetWindow return
