Description:

catalyst 9.2-1 freezes system with vlc in fullscreen. I have to do a hard reboot to get out of it. This does not happen with catalyst 9.1-1. Vlc works fine with catalyst 9.1-1 and open source drivers so its not vlc bug.

Additional info:
catalyst 9.2-1
catalyst-utils 9.2-1
kernel26 2.6.28.7-1
vlc 0.9.8a-5

Steps to reproduce:
Install all packages above.
Run fglrx driver and fglrx kernel module.
Start vlc with video file then push F key to get fullscreen.
You will notice a freeze of everything including mouse.

Please report this bug upstream. We're not responsible for the quality of binary drivers.

I'm going to test the new kernel26 2.6.28.7-1 with catalyst 9.1-1 to see if its like this bug below:
http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/13451

If the non-free nvidia driver is freezing randomly then maybe its related to the new kernel patch. I have my doughs about it buts it maybe a good testing point to start with.

I attach my dmesg log file that i got. Catalyst 9.1-1 is not going to work with the kernel26 2.6.28.7-1. It kernel oops on me for some release.

I'm going to do a rebuild to see if the patch you added to the new catalyst 9.2-1 is causing this problem.

The rebuild didn't work. I remember now that earier today that vlc worked better with compiz has window manager.
So maybe the new ati driver just hates vlc with openbox. lol

I will test that later tommorrow.
