DetailsDescription:
Hybrid-suspend is the process where first the state of the system is saved to disk -- just like with hibernate -- but instead of poweroff, the system goes in suspend state, which means it can wakeup quicker than for normal hibernation. The advantage over suspend is that you can resume even if you run out of power. s2both is a hybrid-suspend implementation. ArchWiki says that it's not working yet: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pm-utils#How_it_Works but pm-utils homepage says it's already working since version 1.2.0: http://pm-utils.freedesktop.org/wiki/FrontPage?highlight=(hybrid) [harvie@harvie-ntb ~]$ pm-is-supported --suspend; echo $?; 0 [harvie@harvie-ntb ~]$ pm-is-supported --hibernate; echo $?; 0 [harvie@harvie-ntb ~]$ pm-is-supported --suspend-hybrid; echo $?; 1 And it's really not working in arch... but i think it can. [harvie@harvie-ntb ~]$ sudo pm-suspend-hybrid Password: (nothing happens here!!!) [harvie@harvie-ntb ~]$ Additional info: * package version(s) extra/pm-utils 1.2.4-1 * config and/or log files etc. Steps to reproduce: sudo pm-suspend-hybrid |

Hybrid suspend isn't supported by default by the linux kernel. It needs either a tuxonice patched kernel, or uswsusp. We don't supply these, though uswsusp is in community.
