Hi. Many times, when I'm using Firefox (also with Pidgin and Mousepad I remember now) suddenly it freezes or it crash (both). I've tried starting firefox in safe mode (without any plugin) and the problem persist. My desktop environment is XFCE4. My system is 100% updated.

The problem occurs without makin anything special like open a web page with flash animations or java applets. It occurs spontaneously in any web page. Sometimes I can run Firefox (also pidgin and mousepad) during a long time without a problem and others it can't run for more than 5 or 10 minutes without a crash.

check your computer memmory with memtest86 this might be a hardware problem.

I was using Clearlooks until some days ago. I changed it to Glossy last week and the problem persist. I've going to change it with a XFCE classic theme to probe if it would be making applications freezes. I'll make a memtest too. I'll tell you later. Thanks a lot.

Hi. These are the results:

- With XFCE classic theme firefox crash too.
- The memtest86 utility have reported two errors during two hours (and the two errors during the first hour). I'll run it again all night.

two errors in two hours can be enough to crash applications at random intervals. Such errors are hard to track down usually. You should replace or remove the defective memory stick and report if that fixes your problem.

Your memories are faulty, you are not supposed to ever have a single error on memtest.

Try dropping their speed once step (say if they work on 800mhz go to 667Mhz), and if they still error, you must replace them.
