Description:
I tried to Setup my printer HP DeskJet 3940 with CUPS, but CUPS brought an error that foomatic-rip failed. I checked the CUPS log and I found the error:
hpijs: error while loading shared libraries: libnetsnmp.so.15: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
After installing the package "net-snmp" everything worked for me. I think that this package should be added to the hplip and/or hpijs dependency list.

Is there any reason not to put it as a full dependency? On my system, printing simply doesn't work without net-snmp.

I can confirm this bug. Took me a while to figure out why cups was not working until reading the log - needed to install net-snmp.

Does 3.9.2 work for you?

"Does 3.9.2 work for you?"

Can you be more specific?

As you can see above, net-snmp was removed from optdepends with 3.9.2. Its now a dependency.
