Additional info:
* package version(s)
Eye of GNOME 2.24.3.1
* config and/or log files etc.

Steps to reproduce:
Open Eye of Gnome in a large collection of photo's press f5 for slide show, click next of previous in the top bar that appears when you touch the upper part of the screen with the mouse.

Still a problem with 2.26.1-1?

My apologies for the very late reply.

It works but still very poorly, I guess eog is just not so fast with big photo's (<6mb). F-spot is faster but for the first second loads a lower quality thumbnail. Any suggestions?

In my experience eog *is* responsive while loading big images.
If I press next/previous in the middle of an image loading eog *immediately* begins to load the next/previous image.
In full screen mode you haven't a progress bar end the image is displayed only after being fully loaded so you get the impression that eog is not responsive.
I'd close this task.
