DetailsWhen installing grub on ide disk partition (reiserfs or jfs) I had
often (not always) error: Error installing GRUB. (see /dev/vc/5 for output) -> grub> root (hd0,1) Filesystem type is reiserfs, partition type 0x83 grub> setup (hd0,1) . . . Running "install /boot/grub stage1 ..." failed Error 6: Mismatched or corrupt version of stage1/stage2 grub> quit I tried sync from vc2 befor installing grub and it helped. |

Installed grub on /dev/discs/disc0/part8 (ide/reiserfs) failed with the same error: "Error 6: Mismatched or corrupt version of stage1/stage2."
Then just afer, I tried to install grub a 2nd time, without any change, and it worked... not sure if sync helps here or not.
