Could you give another example of a program that calls timidity? vavoom-sdl requires games data which I don't have so I can't reproduce the crash.

That's a problem, I only have a use for timidity++ in playing old games I own on Arch, maybe a shareware wad?

Is the timidity daemon running?
Try using gdb or strace to get more output.

I have tried it with both the daemon running and not, strace just stops dead at "program aborted"

Ok, I was able to finally get a maybe useable strace, it would leave my desktop frozen after it crashed out, and I couldn't get gdb to work with the shell script vavoom uses to call the main program (I'm not much of a programmer, sorry. But here it is.

Please mark this bug as closed and solved, the latest update to KDE, i.e. 4.2 > 4.2.1 seems to have corrected all errors that were occurring, sorry for the bother.
