Description:

When you update the package "initscripts", the files /etc/rc.sysinit and /etc/rc.d/functions are overwritten.
can they be saved as *. pacsave (or *. pacnew) ?

These are the most important scripts in the package and not intended to be modified by the end user. If you do so, it is at your own risk, and you should probably use the NoUpgrade functionality of pacman.
