Why not have gst-register run after the installation of gstreamer and gst-plugins or atleast supply a message saying it should be run? I've noticed that a lot of new arch users (including me) used distros which did that for them (like Gentoo) and had no idea the command needed to be run.

first of all it isn't gst-register that needs to be ran. it is gst-compprep. i had it working but now something goes terrible wrong still working on it.
this is a duplicated bug.
