Description:
Some other locales need support for wide-characters, rather than just 8-bit. To enable this, ncurses needs to be built with the --enable-widec option.

Ncurses is built with that option.

Well then, the configure script for the application I was trying to install is broken. I'll check that out instead, and this task can be closed.
