Description:
I installed and ran nppangband which gives me:
nppangband: error while loading shared libraries: libXaw.so.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I then locate libXaw and get:
> whereis libXaw
libXaw: /usr/lib/libXaw.so /usr/lib/libXaw7.so /usr/lib/libXaw6.a /usr/lib/libXaw6.so /usr/lib/libXaw7.a

Additional info:
* package version(s)
* config and/or log files etc.
running "whereis libXaw" gives me:
libXaw: /usr/lib/libXaw.so /usr/lib/libXaw7.so /usr/lib/libXaw6.a /usr/lib/libXaw6.so /usr/lib/libXaw7.a
but nppangband needs libXaw.so.8

Steps to reproduce:
1. run as root: pacman -S nppangband
2. run: nppangband
This task depends upon

I have the same problem. Now why is a text game linking against an X11 widget library...

I can get the source to test a rebuild. Seems that are a "new" (2008) project about this:

Maybe this pkg should be moved to unsupported, or removed.

Is this fixed with 0.5b6.22?
Comment by Gerardo Exequiel Pozzi (djgera) - Saturday, 18 July 2009, 01:02 GMT
The new version nppangband-0.5b6.22-1-i686 is not linked anymore with libXaw

FILE /usr/bin/nppangband
NEEDED libX11.so.6
NEEDED libncursesw.so.5
NEEDED libc.so.6

Trying to run shows:

$ nppangband
nppangband: Bad font directory. (/usr/share/nppangband/xtra/font)
...
nppangband: 3. Directory lacks a fonts.dir file. <<<< this is the cause
