Details

Pretty often when I start Open Office Writer while having some other programs opened, OO freezes the complete system after the start process is almost finished. I'm not sure if it happens with Calc and other Office programs too. The only thing I can do then is switching off my computer with the power button.
It seems that it only happens when other programs are open at the same time. More precisely: I think it only happens when I do something in any open program, but I'm not sure. When I start Open Office, and have no other programs opened and make nothing at the same time, it seems to work.
I noticed this behaviour on Gnome with Metacity and on Gnome with Compiz Fusion on my other computer (Gnome: local/gnome-desktop 2.24.2-1)

Installed Versions:
extra/openoffice-base 3.0.0-4
OpenOffice.org - a free multiplatform and multilingual office suite
extra/openoffice-de 3.0.0-1
OpenOffice german language files

Build: 9358

you are the only one reporting this. this is more likely a hardware or Xorg issue. OpenOffice works fine here and I've never heard it making freeze a whole system. This is impossible and can't be cause by an application. Look for issues with you graphics card, cpu cooling and psu or Xorg drivers.
