Performed full upgrade this morning. Tries to start xorg/kde. I recieved a failed to load libdbus.so.3 Didn't catch the version of dbus.

I had to actually force several packages to install. Followed task#11831 to install dbus. Now when xorg/kde starts I have no input devies that work, keyboard and mouse.
I have yet to have any major problems with archlinux thats why I like it so much however I not sure what versions of what packages that I need to start with to provide the proper information.
Also this makes 2 computers I have that are acting this way. First one is a dell Inspiron 2200 laptop. The second one is a "made for you" type of desktop.

I have tried removing xorg and kde on both computers. The shell works beutifully. Tried removing dbus. Thats about it.
This task depends upon

So you forced the install of some packages? Fine, but why do you now wonder why certain things stopped working? Note: KDM won't run without dbus. Add the dbus daeom (or even better the hal daemon) to your rc.conf. And check you deps with testdb.

Did something change in the rc.conf file that I did not catch. I keep backups of the /etc directory and I see no changes. All my daemons I want to run are still there. I tried testdb, but it reports nothing. I did add dbus and then tried hal with no luck. This was all on the laptop. The main computer we use was a fresh install and experienced the same problems.

Would hardware or a log file help?

I started searching. Ran across another task 10430 about intel chipset video driver. Downloaded the current one. Keyboard now works. Why? No mouse. Downloaded hwd and ran hwd -x use the xorg.conf.vesa now keyboard and mouse work. Before I close this ticket? Is there anything that I need to look in to?

Thanks!

Laptop is fixed now. I did a fresh install on the other desktop computer. Still same thing. Evidently the intel chipset driver doesn't like the video card.

So this ticket can be closed.
