Description:
I installed aumix-gtk with pacman, and it would not launch. I didn't get any error message from the console. I had eventually no choice but start it from console as it didn't come with a menu entry anyhow.

I tried then to install it from PKGBUILD, and I could meet with the same result : no aumix-gtk launching and no clue about why.

Additional info:
* package version(s)

Version 2.8
* config and/or log files etc.

an aumix-patche come with the PKGBUILD

Steps to reproduce:

Install with pacman, try to start it, then un-install it, install with makepkg on the PKGBUILD, try to start it.

Please, do consider reading what I wrote just above. The "steps to reproduce" part at the end, should be enough to talk by itself.

Additionnally, I just tried to install it my laptop just to give more information if however that be possible. See for yourself:

==================

## I just installed the 2.8-3 :

$ sudo pacman -S aumix-gtk

Cibles (1): aumix-gtk-2.8-3

## Then I start it (I always use tab to complete, so I won't write "aumix-gtk" in the console when completion gives "aumix").

[melodie@liveche ~]$ aumix
aumix: error while loading shared libraries: libgpm.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

## Ok, there is a dependancy that has not been detected at install ! ***A bug inside the bug ?***

[melodie@liveche ~]$ aumix

## nothing happens.

## it would be nice if you also considered putting a aumix-gtk.desktop in the package, so that there be an entry in the multimedia section menu.

====================

Thanks to consider repairing. It's been quite some time (maybe a few weeks) I tried to use it and I just decided to find out where and how it goes to file a report bug for Archlinux packages.

Greetings,

I think something wrong with your system. If you use x86_64 - please check /lib64

ls -l /lib64/

I use only i686, on both:

* the desktop where I would first have needed aumix-gtk, and

* on the laptop where I tried again to install and use it for the purpose of checking for this one bug report.

I can do one more test on the laptop at a brand new install I did a few days ago on another partition. I'll make a fresh update of the repos+system, and try to install aumix-gtk again and come back to say what.

Hi,

I sayd I would try at my new install I did. I couldn't start aumix either, so I tried to see what with gdb, no clue, I tried with 'strace aumix' and then the answer was I didn't have the rights on /dev/mixer. I tried with 'ktsuss aumix' and I could start it as root. Then I added myself to a few groups, audio among. I rebooted and now it works.

On the other install I yet had my user at the right groups, but I found with strace that there was no /dev/mixer file, then I got help and found out that I needed snd-mixer-oss to be loaded : I loaded it with modprobe and added it in rc.conf modules, now it works.

At last, only yet lacks a desktop file. :-)
Would you mind adding one for the next aumix-gtk release, please ?

Thanks for your interest.
With my best greetings and wishes for the New Year.
J.M
