ncmpc ("A ncurses (command line) interface for MPD") package in repository does not depend on MPD itself. Which may be a little bit confusing ie. for me as I was pretty sure that I have MPD already installed which was not true.

AFAIK, mpd can be running on another computer. I guess it should be an optdepend.

optdepend, but *not* a depend. I did this in the past for one of the MPD clients and I believe you can find a bug report voicing the opposite concern. Ironic since I run mpd and mpc on different computers.

Optdepend. MPD does not need to be installed on the same computer.

I consider this being in the same spirit as eg. GNOME doesnt depend on Xorg. etc..
And as above mpd shouldnt be an optdepend either.
