Since namcap installs modules under /usr/lib/python2.6 it requires specific version of python.

namcap doesn't contain any versioned dependency at all. As "python" is the only package that provides python AFAIK, I don't see this as a real bug.

Given the guideline that we only support an up to date system and python is version 2.6, I'd say not a bug.

If we assumed completely up-to-date system, versioned dependencies would not be needed at all.
As I understand, versioned dependency's mission is to show that the package works with one version of some package and does not work with another. Which is the case with namcap.

I don't see what the downside to this is. Versioned depends are there for a reason.

I will agree that it isn't too hard to stick the "python>=2.6" in there, but I could go either way on this- lets leave it to the maintainer.
