DetailsI suggest adding /opt/gnome/lib/python2.3 to the environment variable PYTHONPATH. This will allow GNOME applications that are written in Python to work with the basic, prefix=/opt/gnome install, without a lot of mving afterwards. This could be added in the /etc/profile.d/gnome.sh.

This task depends upon
export PYTHONPATH=$PYTHONPATH:/usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages:$GNOMEDIR/lib/python2.3/site-packages
That works for me.
