i cannot suspend while running kde4 from extra. running e17, or just x plus a terminal i can suspend without any problems.

i tried many ways to suspend:
- pm-utils
- echo "mem" > /sys/power/state
- stopping daemons (wicd, dbus, hal, acpid) before suspend

i have no idea what can cause this problem.
after pressing the power button to resume it does nothing. normally the webcam led blinks twice and the lcd backlight turns on and so on. but when i resume a kde4-session nothing happens. no led, no backlight. i can only turn off pc by pressing power-button 4 seconds.

Additional info:
* pc: dell xps m1330 (nvidia)
* system is up-to-date
* did a fresh install a few days ago, but no change!

i atteched the pm-suspend log files (success and fail)

Do you use OpenGL compositing inside KDE (desktop effects)? This could be your Nvidia driver breaking up.

tested it without compositing as root, but no luck! it does not wake up!

Common sense tells me that if this only happens with KDE then either:
1) this is a KDE bug; or
2) KDE is enabling a composite/accelerated feature of the nvidia driver that's causing the driver to self-destruct upon resume

I don't use KDE so I'm not familiar with how it enables/disables compositing, but I would double and triple check that compositing was in fact disabled and then restart Xorg before attempting another suspend.

next tests:

- switched to xf86-video-nv: now the laptop resumes, but the display does not wake up! (it usually does, if resume works)

ok, i found the problem!

- i had installed the latest nvidia beta drivers (180.08) and this version causes the problem
- reverted back to latest from extra and now it works!

sorry for that!
