Description:
After the upgrade on xorg-server to 5.3.1 I no longer can switch to console, since the LCD complains with "signal out of rank, 39.9kHz/89Hz". This was working OK with previous version of xorg-server, it damaged after the recent upgrade to 5.1.3. I'm using the mach64 driver provided by xf86-video-mach64. Removing the kernel module atyfb doesn't help... With or without "UseFB" option commented out the result is the same... Once I get inot X, I can't get out of it, since any time I want to come back to console all I get is a blank screen with the monitor message. No error shows up anywhere... Additional info: * package version(s) local/xorg-server 1.5.3-2 (xorg) local/xf86-video-mach64 6.8.0-2 (xorg-video-drivers) local/mesa 7.2-1 * config and/or log files etc. I've compressed several configuration files and logs into a tar.bz2 file, see attached tar... Steps to reproduce: My box is a piii celeron with 32KB of cache, 512MB of ram. In the tar file you can find more logs about my box. To me it's just a matter of doing "startx" and trying to get to console... |
This task depends upon
kernel /vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sda7 ro resume=/dev/sda5 vga=773
Now I have:
kernel /vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sda7 ro resume=/dev/sda5
Thhis allows me now to change back and forth from X to console, and I can close X now to get back to console... Bad, pretty bad thing is that now I can't use nice font console, since the terminus v12n is not supported. The only one providing a good size is alt-8x8, which looks a bit ugly. The terminus v14b doesn't improve the size respect to v16b, which is too big, :) Well, beyond that, things are back to normal, so I'm closing the bug...
