Description:

Starting the virtualbox module vboxdrv and fuse module gives an warning/error message

error: /etc/init.d/vboxdrv not found
error: /etc/init.d/fuse not found

the packages themselves work but I am unable to understand why this error pops up? I don't have an init.d folder in etc at all. A clarification would be nice, can I ignore it and etc.?

Additional info:
* package version(s)
* config and/or log files etc.

All versions of fuse and virtualbox

Steps to reproduce:

Install fuse and virtualbox and add vboxdrv and fuse to the modules section in rc.conf.

Which command gives you this please?

Maybe you should do symlink(/etc/init.d/ to /etc/rc.d/)?

I got it wrong the error which appears during boot time after all modules have been loaded is saying

/etc/rd.d/functions.d/splash line 208 (or something) /etc/rc.d/fuse not found
/etc/rd.d/functions.d/splash line 208 (or something) /etc/rc.d/vboxdrv not found

so it is an error with splashy I think, which I have installed. Sorry for the confusion.

André

Don't care about splashy, i've got the same warning, when i was running VMware services (/etc/rc.d/vmware start). I runned this command as root and everything went fine.

Are you using latest versions of packages? Are you using OSE version of VirtualBox?

I have installed fuse and virtualbox-ose, then I loaded modules. Everything works...

Yes I am using the latest versions of the packages. I have following packages installed of virtualbox

virtualbox-addtions
virtualbox-modules
virtualbox-ose
virtualbox-ose-additions
virtualbox-ose-additions-modules

but I found the problem I accidently put the fuse vboxdrv entries in both DAEMONS and MODULES in rc.conf, DOH!!! I just removed them from the DAEMONS line and the error was gone. So this is fixed on my part :p.

André
