Looks like installing KDE4 messed with the kdelibs3. After reinstalling kdelibs3 Amarok now works. Makes me wonder if there are libraries with the same name hat get overwritten. In which case this is a packaging bug with kdelibs.

pacman will not overwrite file on your system with those from a package. Looks like something went "wrong" with you upgrade (replaced packages?) but it all works now.
