Hello,
I can confirm this bug on xchat 2.8.6-2; with "os" python module. I was told on the IRC channel, that it could be caused by the python 2.5->2.6 move, so, just a recompile of xchat is needed. Can we do that, please?

I've been able to reproduce exactly the same error (in Engrish though) when attempting to compile xchat on x86_64. The bug (python interpreter borked) is still present. Time to shout "mayday-mayday"?

Yes :)

Fixed for i686.

Eric: Can you build for x86_64?
Comment by Jens (defcon) - Saturday, 08 November 2008, 21:29 GMT
What is fixed? The rebuild problem or the python problem?
Comment by Allan McRae (Allan) - Saturday, 08 November 2008, 21:34 GMT
Both in one go.
